Cookies we use and how to control them

This page lists every cookie the eCube portal sets, explains what each one is for and how long it stays, and shows you how to change your consent.

1. What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser. It lets the site remember something between requests — that you are signed in, for example. This policy also covers similar technologies we use for the same purpose, such as your browser’s local storage.

We group cookies by what they are for. Strictly necessary cookies make the portal work and cannot be switched off. Analytics cookies are optional and are set only after you agree; without them Google Analytics may still receive limited cookieless measurements, described in section 4.

2. Your choices

When you first open eCube, a banner asks whether you accept optional cookies. Until you accept, no Analytics cookies are stored on or read from your device; Google Analytics may receive only limited cookieless measurements. You can change or withdraw your choice whenever you like — withdrawing consent stops cookie-based analytics and returns Analytics to cookieless measurement.

You can also delete cookies and block them in your browser settings — Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge all offer this under privacy settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will sign you out and prevent you from signing back in.

3. Strictly necessary cookies

These are first-party cookies set by eCube itself. They carry no advertising identifiers and are not shared with anyone. They are set only when you actually sign in or use a protected form, so a visitor who just browses the catalogue receives none of them.

`auth_2fa_trusted_device`	Remembers a device you marked as trusted, so it is not asked for a second factor every time.	30 days
`cookieyes-consent`	Stores your cookie choice so the banner does not ask again. Set by our consent tool, CookieYes.	1 year

The portal also uses your browser’s local storage for conveniences that never leave your device: drafts of products and articles you are writing, your recent searches, and whether you have dismissed a banner or a reminder. This data is not sent to us and you can clear it in your browser at any time.

4. Analytics cookies and cookieless measurement

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people find useful and how fast the portal is for them. The cookies below are set only after you accept analytics in the cookie banner; that is when measurement becomes cookie-based. If you decline analytics cookies, no Analytics cookies are stored on or read from your device. Google Analytics may still receive limited cookieless measurements for aggregated and modelled statistics. We do not send your name, e-mail address or account ID to Google.

Google’s handling of this data is described in its privacy policy. You can also block Google Analytics across all sites with Google’s opt-out browser add-on.

5. Third-party cookies for security

Our forms are protected by Google reCAPTCHA v3, which tells human visitors apart from automated abuse. Because the newsletter form sits in the footer, reCAPTCHA loads on every page.

We treat this as strictly necessary: without it our forms would be open to automated abuse. Its use is governed by Google’s privacy policy and terms of service.

6. Changes and contact

We review this list as the portal changes; the date at the top of the page shows the current version. If you think a cookie is missing from this list, or you have any other question, write to ecubeportal@soselectronic.com.
