Description
The Digitalio Box Pro is a DIN-rail mountable I/O module and data logger designed for applications that require measurement, control, and communication capabilities within a single device.
It is more than just a standard digital I/O module; thanks to built-in logic functions, the device can execute specific tasks independently.
The unit operates on a 12–36 V DC power supply, making it easy to integrate into existing industrial and building automation systems.
Its five open-drain outputs are capable of directly driving relays, contactors, or other low-voltage loads.
The three digital inputs can be used to receive signals from switches, limit switches, pulse outputs, and other digital sources.
The pulse counter allows for data collection from devices such as water, heat, or other meters equipped with pulse outputs.
The inputs support logic functions including pulse counting, button handling, and heat energy measurement.
The Box Pro features three current transformer inputs, enabling the measurement of electrical current consumption.
Threshold monitoring can be configured for current measurements, allowing a simple measurement setup to function as an overcurrent or load monitoring system.
Two 0–10 V / 4–20 mA inputs allow for direct connection to industrial transmitters and sensors.
These inputs can handle signals such as pressure, temperature, humidity, or other analog measurements. The three 0–10 V outputs allow for the control of devices such as EC fans, proportional valves, or other analog-controlled equipment.
The PT1000 inputs enable the measurement of multiple temperature points with a single device.
Built-in control logic—covering heating, cooling, hysteresis, and ΔT-based operations—can be applied to the temperature measurements.
This allows a simple temperature measurement to be transformed into an autonomous control function.
One of the device's key strengths is its communication capability.

Two independent RS485 interfaces are available for Modbus RTU communication.
Since the two buses can operate at different communication speeds, the Box Pro can also serve as a gateway between Modbus networks with differing configurations.
In transparent mode, the device forwards the relevant Modbus frames between the two RS485 lines without modification.
This is particularly useful in systems requiring the interconnection of equipment from different manufacturers.
The two RS485 ports can simultaneously provide access to the device's data for two separate Modbus masters.
This allows, for example, a PLC and a building management system to access the same set of measurement data in parallel.
In addition to communication, the Box Pro can also function as a standalone data logger.
Measured data can be transmitted via Wi-Fi using HTTP, HTTPS, TCP, or WebSocket protocols, or through a proprietary Digitalio communication link. Consequently, the device can be used not only as part of an existing automation system but also as a standalone measurement endpoint.
Local FRAM memory ensures non-volatile storage for various counters and status information.
The device is DIN-rail mountable, allowing it to be installed directly in switch cabinets, automation cabinets, or building services control boxes.
The goal of the Box Pro is not to tie the user to a specific manufacturer's system, but rather to provide a flexible interface for existing measurement, control, and communication infrastructure.
When a system requires simultaneous measurement, I/O handling, Modbus communication, and data acquisition, the Digitalio Box Pro integrates these functions into a single, configurable device.
